The Sun Rises In The East & Sets In The West

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, like clockwork;
The world is not level.
But every day, like clockwork, the sun smiles at the mountains as it rises in the sky and brightens the earth.
The world is not level.
But every day, the sun sets in the west and whispers goodbye as the stars scatter across the night sky, like clockwork.

I’m grateful —

If you had to describe the smell of the sea to someone who had never been there, never experienced it, could you?
The mightiness of the Indian Ocean and Atlantic as they crash furiously against the shore;
If you had to, could you tell them how the fog sits in the sky and covers the tops of magnanimous mountains?
Could you tell them about mountains so ferocious they look like clouds, illusions in the distance?
Or the yawn of a lion-
The playfulness of a cheetah; the gentle giganticness of elephants?
Could you explain how every aspect of nature is so distinct, so unique, yet every detail fits together so perfectly it is quintessential in its design?

If you had to imagine writing a story about 20-something-year-old you drinking wine in a vineyard, would you imagine it’d happen? Sipping wine that was aged for 23 years in the south of Africa? Could you tell a story about naming a Cabernet Sauvignon after your grandmother and breaking a barrier to create premium red wine?

If you could…
Would you stand on the edge of the beginning of time, humbled by how big the world is, planted in awe of your own creation, marvelling at God’s wondrous glory?

History…
History can leave you brokenhearted.
History that was just 30 years ago can leave you confused, hurt, frustrated and maybe even angry.
History can make you question the entire world, the way it works-
The way it doesn’t.

But I choose to believe in hope.
Because
We don’t get to choose the place we were born, or the families we’re born into.
But you can choose to believe in the power of love
To believe in the power of forgiveness.

The world is not level.

But it is what it is and we make the most of it.
We can find joy in the little things that are so much bigger. We can find happiness in the silent moments of gratitude. We can find refuge that we are truly cradled in the hands of God.
And we can choose to believe in humanity – in every sense of the word.

One of the greatest gifts in life is to see the world and know the world. One of the deepest pains in life is to see the world and know the world.

History…can leave you heartbroken.

But at the end of every day, the sun sets and the next day, it rises again; it is clockwork.

I’m grateful —

We are blessed.

    Very interesting subject, thanks for putting up. “The friendship that can cease has never been real.” by Saint Jerome.
