1. Avoid using a razor that is dull, old or dirty.
2. Razor bump cream. I recommend Bikini Zone Medicated Creme for Bikini Area 1 oz, right after shaving, waxing or using Nair. It relieves irritation and redness quickly.
Pro tip: You can also use antibiotic ointment: whether, Neosporin or Triple antibiotic cream; it will heal cuts and scrapes while reducing inflammation and the likelihood of infection. Balmex with zinc oxide is also amazing at relieving irritation. And good old Hydrocortisone cream is great at getting rid of those pesky itches and general redness. Remember, all these ointments are for external use only.
2. Pull out all ingrown hairs with a clean, sharp tweezer & then apply diluted hydrogen peroxide to the area. If you’re not sure how to remove ingrown hairs, there are lots of YouTube video demonstrations.
3. Shaving along the grain (shaving in the direction your hair grows) to prevent irritation.
4. After shaving/waxing, do not rub the area forcefully with your towel, pat dry.
5. Stay moisturized before and after shaving. Any natural oil is good for this. Coconut or jojoba oil works well.
6. Consider a different hair removal method. If shaving isn’t working for you, try waxing. If waxing doesn’t work, try using Nair.
7. Exfoliate using an all-natural scrubs.
8. Use a natural disinfectant like apple cider vinegar to cleanse the area after shaving, waxing or using Nair.
9. For dark spots, you can try natural remedies with lemon or baking soda. Both lemon and baking soda have lightening/whitening properties; lemon or lime seems to show quicker results.
10. If all else fails, it’s ok; there’s still hope, but it may be time to see a dermatologist.
*These are also not instant fixes and should be done consistently to see any visible results.
